The Kootenay River Trails are a network of walking trails along the east side of the Kootenay River and are located above that river's confluence with the Columbia River near the City of Castlegar. A variety of trails allow relatively level riverside walks through the Skattebo Forest, complete with waterfalls, as well as more strenuous ascents to rewarding viewpoints on Dove Hill and Brilliant Overlook. The trails are rich in the history of the First Nations people and the local pioneers.
