Some of you may have recently seen members of Friends of Parks and Trails executive on the local community channel. Set against the wintry backdrop of Waldie Island trail, we talked about the purpose and benefits of our Society and the value of our strong membership including both individuals and local businesses. Our membership rolls are always changing a bit each year, with some leaving and new members coming on. Right now, our membership is up to 128, including four new members this year. This is a good spot to welcome Paulo Travassos, Stewart and Janet Smith, David Mitchell and Sandra McGuiness!

Along with a strong membership, it is important to have a dynamic Executive to carry out the purposes of the Society and keep things “moving along”. Our current Executive is very capable at what they do but they would like to see others get involved because, like the membership, the Executive is not (nor should not be) a static entity either! My pitch to the membership in this newsletter is to come out to the Annual General Meeting on February 26, meet fellow members and the Executive and perhaps take a first step toward “getting more involved” |
And, if you are not yet a member, please come out to the meeting anyway to see what our Society is about and join up! Your participation in our group will add to our strengths.
As noted in a previous article, there will be a motion at the AGM to partially change the annual fee structure. It will be good to have some discussion on this before it is voted on. Here is your chance! In regards to dues, there are still a few members who have forgotten to pay their dues for 2007. There is a reminder in the newsletter package for those tardy individuals. Thanks to everyone for keeping current with their annual dues!
