Presidential Address

It seems like a long time ago but only actually 4 years ago that I attended an AGM of Castlegar Friends of Parks and Trails and happened to ask a few questions and was elected President. From that rather auspicious beginning came 4 years of rather satisfying participation in the workings of this wonderful organization. This wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work of the executive. We have had our good times and not so good times but the good times far exceeded the bad. It has been a very rewarding experience. My best wishes to the new president.

I would like to encourage others to run for positions on the executive of Parks and Trails. It is a great experience and you can really make a difference through this organization in the lives of many people. Everyone on the executive has a job to do and what’s more thanks to good stewardship there is some money to do it with. The Castlegar community has always been supportive of what we are doing and other cities are jealous! Feel free to approach any member of the executive who are listed elsewhere in this newsletter.

Best wishes,

John Mansbridge, Past President (soon to be)

John and Bandit

On behalf of all the members of Castlegar Friends of Parks and Trails, and in particular on behalf of the executive members, I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to John Mansbridge for leading this organization over the past few years.

We look forward to seeing you out enjoying the trails you have helped steward

THANK YOU JOHN

Editor’s note

It’s a sunny Saturday and I’m sitting here collating this newsletter. Skiing would be nice today. I’ve got a small sailboat half built in the workshop that I would like more time for. A walk with the kids and dog might yet happen….. But the rewards of being involved with this organization actually make the half day I’ll spend on this newsletter today easy. There are also phone calls once in awhile, and the odd email too. And I manage to attend most of the meetings – perhaps 8 hours a year in the company of good people – pretty easy to take. The Castlegar Friends of Parks and Trails is seeking to entice members (new and old alike) to step forward at the coming AGM and fill a director position. A number of the present executive have agreed to continue on for another year, but we need some fresh faces to join us. Please consider the opportunity and the rewards. If you have any questions the contact information for a number of executive members is included with this newsletter.

I want to express our thanks and gratitude to Kristina Kruchkowski and our local Shaw Cable office for supporting this organization with their recent community channel segment on the organization. Thank you.

I welcome any and all newsletter input; next one is in early April. Lawrence Redfern - lsredfern@shaw.ca
