SPRING HAS ARRIVED

Rick Johnson – Membership

This past week one wouldn’t believe that title, but I am certain we have seen our last snowfall. Your Executive is busy determining which trails to start cleaning up and which ones to replace or install new signs, now that the snow is pretty much gone from at least the sunnier or lower slopes. Except for a few die hards, the skis are going back up onto the racks and the hiking boots and poles are coming out. The trails are out there, beckoning! Our Executive would welcome a day of your help, or even a half day, to assist in clearing out the winter’s deposit of debris from trails and generally clean up things before the hordes of hikers start breaking in their new boots. A convenient trail to come out to help on is the Waldie Island Trail, where a work party is convening on Thursday April 10 at 9:00. Call Peter Wood or Gord Hollingshead if you are interested.

Remember to send in your 2008 dues (some still owe for 2007). This is a reminder that there is now a basic due of $10. Please feel free to e-mail (pilotpnt@telus.net) or call me if you aren’t sure whether you have paid.

We have three new members I would like to introduce: Suzanne Bagur, Judy Laret and Shannon and Sara Marshall. Shannon has entered our group “big time” by becoming the Vice President. Welcome everyone, and have fun on the trails!

Other CFP $ T activities:
The society was notified of an application for a new transmission line in the vicinity of the Brilliant Overlook trail. We submitted a 2-page letter and a couple of photos to FrontCounter BC posing a few questions, expressing our concerns, and offering to meet and discuss the issues. A copy of the letter sent is available from Lawrence at lsredfern@shaw.ca

The CFP & T executive met on April 1st and discussed the program for the coming summer season.

The Regional Council of Trails BC met in Castlegar on March 27th.

For information on any of the Society’s activities please feel free to contact Lawrence at lsredfern@shaw.ca or 365-5350.
