WKNA newsletter

Editor’s note

It has been an exceptionally busy six months for Castlegar Friends of Parks and Trails and I hope many of you have had an opportunity to hike the local trails and have seen the amazing work that has been completed. In addition to the regular CFP&T volunteers we all also owe a great deal of thanks to the national Katimavik youth service program and to the four volunteers we were so fortunate to have from this program this year. Jessica, Eric, Rebecca and Charles put in over 1,500 volunteer hours for us all this summer. WOW - four youth from Alberta, Ontario and Quebec did that, for us. We were also blessed with two hardworking and delightful employees who supervised our volunteers and kept the workplace fun, educational, and safe - a huge thanks to Tess Hotchkis and Grace Bisaro from CFP&T executive and all the membership. Chris Mansbridge also helped out when we desperately needed help - thanks Chris!

Included with this newsletter is a colour map with brief descriptions of some of your local trails. I hope it entices you out to enjoy some excellent walking in your own backyard this fall.

Please contact me at lsredfern@shaw.ca, or 365-5350 with any trails stories, photos, info, items of interest or ideas. Thank you, Lawrence Redfern, ed. (Next newsletter submission deadline: November 6th)

MEMBERSHIP UPDATE

Friends of Parks and Trails would like to welcome the 14 new members who have joined our Society in 2007. We hope you get an opportunity to walk some of our trails and to appreciate some of the wonderful views and wildlife that you will encounter. A special thank you goes to those members who have generously contributed donations, in addition to their annual dues. These donations go a long way in helping your Executive update and print new maps and the Newsletter you are now reading. And of course, thank you to all of our members who have remembered to pay their dues already

Some of you have overlooked the annual dues, which are currently as little as $6. If you are in arrears for one or two years, your newsletter package will contain a short note reminding you of your arrears. Your dues help to cover the costs of printing and delivering the newsletter to you as well as contributing to the general trail maintenance fund. Thank you for your attention!
