EXECUTIVE MEETING MINUTES
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 2006
An Executive Meeting was held at 7 pm at the home of John Mansbridge.
Present: John Mansbridge, Ginny Brownlie, Lesley Anderton, Poul Henriksen, Gordon Hollingshead, Dave Sharp, Peter Wood
1. Additions to the Agenda
Sunfest was added under New Business and Old Business was added.
2. Correspondence

Coffee Mate - John read a letter about the Columbia River Trail.
Wendy Hurst - Lesley says Wendy’s request for $350 for reimbursement for work done on the TCT brochure is legitimate
Moved (Peter)/seconded (Lesley)/carried, that Wendy be reimbursed $350 for work done on the TCT brochure. We will get a copy of her brochure to keep on record.
John will discuss with Wendy the sending in of updates to the maps twice a year.
Moved (Dave)/seconded (Poul)/carried, that in future, wherever possible, expenditures to members or contractors be approved in advance and the president be authorized to make payments up to $500.
Basemapping and Geomatic Services Branch - First, John will discuss with Wendy regarding approval to use their maps.
3. Minutes of Executive Meeting of November 14, 2005
Moved (Lesley)/seconded (Gordon)/carried, that minutes be accepted.
4. Treasurer’s Report
Poul reported the following balances: Operating - $5305, Special Term 2 - $31,557, Special Term 3 - $8,348.
5. Business Arising
TCT Signs and Meeting with Ray Gaudert - Lesley said that Sjeng Dirks is taking over as TCT regional director and she will contact him.
Meeting with Mike Ross - John talked to him and Mike Ross was very receptive. John gave him one of our brochures. Mike’s intentions, if any, weren’t mentioned.
Skattebo Trail Update - John reported that there are problems going up side hill. A gate is needed at the beginning of road and before dam so people don’t drive farther up road. Castlegar Friends of Parks and Trails is receptive to a kiosk being placed by the highway. Gordon suggested we take pictures of attractive kiosks to get ideas for ours on Skattebo Reach. We will try to reschedule a meeting in March or April with Columbia Power.
Kootenay Trails Brochure - Gordon gave each of us a copy of his prototype; members of the Executive are asked to write comments. Gordon got prices from Biznet, Dave to get prices from Leanne at Coffee Mate and Ginny to check with college.
Paint for Benches – Elaine not present
Gift Certificate from Lee Valley - Regarding the returned gift certificate from Walter, Peter will think about some trail maintenance tools.
Jim Gustafson and City - John said that Jim would like to have a meeting after they receive the Community Plan Surveys back.
6. Committee Reports
TCT - As above, Lesley reported there is a new regional director
Trail Use - Gordon says that Waldie Island has had the most use over winter. Doggie bags are being used; the City has supplied lots of bags. Gordon passed out positive comment sheets.
Trail Maintenance - Peter said trails were good last year and he will check them after the snow is gone.
Newsletter and Membership – Elaine not present
We will have to find new people for these tasks; Elaine and Jim would like to retire.
Website and Waldie Island - Dave said there was some trouble renewing our domain name, but now it’s renewed for 2 years. Peter asked that the link to Walter’s site be made more visible; Dave suggested it be moved to Links of Interest. Dave will do this providing Walter has a link to Friends of Parks and Trails on his site.
John asked for committee reports before AGM on Tuesday, February 21, 2006.
7. Old Business
Gordon has made a requested change to our membership form regarding CFPT not giving out email addresses to third parties.
8. New Business
Peter was asked by Darlene Kalawsky that CFPT give a talk at a Rotary dinner. Peter will do this.
Sunfest - We will set up our booth again in Kinsmen Park.
Computer - CFPT’s computer has been at John’s house. Dave will copy all the files onto CD and John will see about passing it on.
Meeting with Columbia Power - John gave us a list of commitments.
AGM - Elaine wanted to know if executive/directors would like to continue. John would like to know before AGM.
Poul suggested we contact Alex Atamenenko about federal funding for Friends of Parks & Trails.
Reimbursement - covered under “Correspondence” for reimbursing Wendy.
Lesley will look after goodies for AGM unless Elaine has already arranged.
