EXECUTIVE MEETING MINUTES

MONDAY, APRIL 10, 2006


An Executive Meeting was held at 7 pm at the home of John Mansbridge.


Present: John Mansbridge, Ginny Brownlie, Lesley Anderton, Poul Henriksen, Dave Sharp, Peter Wood, Elaine Robinson


Tonight was Elaine’s final executive meeting. She has been involved with Castlegar Friends of Parks & Trails since 1993. Thank you, Elaine, for all your excellent contributions.


1. No additions to the agenda.


2. Correspondence


Capri Insurance – Poul said that Selkirk College and Teck Cominco would like their names on the policy. John will fill in the form and send it.


Nature Trust – received a copy of their newsletter.


Grand Forks Festival – they are having a Festival of Freedom at the Forks on July 21, 22, 23 and wanted to know if we would like a booth. We will decline with thanks.


Trails BC – their AGM is at the end of the month in Ft. Langley.


Ministry of Forestry – received a letter re developing forestry plan for the area. John will send them a copy of our map and inform them that we would at least like a boundary around our trails.


Keepin Track – received a copy of the Grand Forks Parks & Trails newsletter.


BC Hydro – received a copy of the BC Integrated Electricity Plan.


3. Minutes of February 15, 2006 Executive Meeting

Moved (Lesley)/seconded (Dave)/carried, that minutes be accepted.


4. Treasurer’s Report

Poul passed out financial statements for the year ended January 31, 2006.

Moved (Poul)/seconded (Peter)/carried, that financial statements be accepted with changes in years as noted.


5. Business Arising


Rotary Talk – Peter was unable to attend their meeting, but will give a talk in the future if asked.


Computer – Moved (Elaine)/seconded (Lesley)/carried, that we give our computer to the Columbia Basin Society for Literacy for the Salmo Public Library.


Sunfest – will be held June 2, 3 and 4. This was tabled to our general meeting.



6. Committee Reports


TCT – Lesley said there was nothing to report. She will find out what’s happening from their new regional director, Sjeng Derkx, at their meeting next week.


Trail Use – Gordon was unable to attend, but sent along his notes as follows:


Kootenay River Trails/Selkirk Campus Trails Brochure


KRT Map

A laminated vinyl copy of the updated Kootenay River Trails map was made and put up at the Terminal station parking lot.


Dove Hill Comment Box

Installed at the base of Dove Hill and supplied with Trails of the Castlegar Area, KRT-SCT brochure, membership forms and a comment sheet.


Misc.


Trail Maintenance – Peter will soon be contacting volunteers. Bert & Sue Port reported that Brilliant Overlook looked good except for a tree across the trail.


Newsletter – Elaine and Jim have published a Spring 2006 newsletter. They want to retire and are looking for replacements. Joan McDonald will help Elaine mail the newsletters.


Website and Waldie Island – Dave removed the link to Walter’s site from our front page. Steven Rigby has agreed to look after Waldie Island again. He is also interested in making repairs to the Doukhobor waterline trail.


7. New Business

City Grant – John has applied for $800 from the City of Castlegar for maintenance of Waldie Island.

Moved (Ginny)/seconded (Lesley)/carried, that Elaine be appointed a member at large and official representative for Friends of Parks & Trails at Communities in Bloom.


General Meeting – John recommended a program on the Trans Canada Trail; he will ask Sjeng Derkx.


Plans for the Year – John passed out a list of contributions received or committed from Aquila and Columbia Power for projects completed/not yet completed. He will talk to Columbia Power to make sure we’re on the same page.


TCT Meeting – will be held at 7 pm Wednesday, April 12 in Recreation Complex.
